(The Zoom Quiz follows the video)
The following Quiz & Video is from the Zoom session July 15, 2024. The Zoom session was based on Chapter 2. However, in this video you will also find overviews on how to determine the Dominant Core Zone; the Dominant Subregion; and how the Carrying Angle is related to the strength and weakness of the grip on shoulder rotation; and a breakdown on the worldwide percentages of players by Core Zone.
Note: Research on memory and forgetting shows that we remember things presented first (primacy) and things presented last (recency). There is a tendency to forget information presented in the middle when learning new content. The purpose of summary quizzes is to test your knowledge of the content presented in this video from the Zoom session.
Quiz Question 1
When doing the Wright Balance® Express, you must do:
- All 5 Subregions of the Zone you balancing
- Only the Subregion where you want to change the Carrying Angle
- Two of the 5 Subregions
- None of the above
Answer
- All 5 Subregions
Question 2
You use the alignment stick on the floor to stand on to:
(Choose one or more answers)
- Clean your shoes
- Feel the heel to toe balance within the Core Zone and Subregion
- Test your ability to rotate your shoulders when
standing in exact balance- All of the above
Answer
<2 and 3 When you feel the pressure of the alignment stick the same in both feet, if you are in exact balance, you will have maximum shoulder rotation. If you are not in exact balance, you will have limited shoulder rotation
Question 3
You are able to disrupt your Core in all planes of motion by:
- Doing the Wright Balance® Express in all 15 Subregions
- Doing the Wright Balance® Expess in 10 Subregions
- Doing the Wright Balance® Express in 5 Subregions
- Doing the Wright Balance® Express using a handle size on a Subregion that does not match the Subregion
Answer
- Doing the Wright Balance® Express using a handle size on a Subregion that does not match the Subregion
Question 4
Why is color coding the handle size important?
Answer
®The Color coding of handle size to match the Subregion is to ensure that you use the correct handle size for the Core Zone where you are doing the Wright Balance® Express. Using the wrong handle size for a Core Zone totally disrupts the Core in all planes of motion.
Question 5
The Carrying Angle is the angle of range of motion through the body. An easy way to verify that you have the correct measurement of a Carrying Angle is:
1.Test the angle of the lead hand to see if your student is able to rotate their shoulders in the backswing
2.Check your student's shoe size to see if it matches the Carrying Angle
3. Check your student's age minus their shoe size and that is their Carrying Angle
4. None of the above
Answer
- Test the angle of the lead hand to see if your student is able to rotate their shoulders in the backswing. If you have the correct Carrying Angle, you will observe maximum rotation
Question 6
Which of the following is Correct? Worldwide, we have observed:
- 10 percent of those measured are Lower Core Zone players
- 30 percent of those measured are Middle Core Zone players
- 60 percent of those measured are Upper Core Zone players
- All of the above
Answer
- All of the above Keep in mind that those individuals being measured are primarily golfers. Observations of baseball players show more Lower Core Zone than any other Core Zone. Swimmers and runners are more likely Upper Core based upon epigenetics.
"Epigenetics is the study of heritable changes to genes that don't involve altering the DNA sequence itself. Instead, exercise can influence which genes are turned on or off, or how the genetic code is read and implemented"
